USA Military Rugby line up for the national anthem

WHO WE ARE
ABOUT US

USA Military Rugby was formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2023 to support US Veteran Military Rugby players and Active-Duty US Military Rugby players with a High-Performance Rugby Program for International and Domestic Competition.

USA Military Rugby relies on donations from Corporations and Individuals to offset costs incurred conducting these matches. These donations are used to offset costs for Uniforms, Training Equipment, Meals, Lodging, and Transport.

The players typically cover all their travel costs and use personal time off from work/duty to compete. No US Tax dollars or Department of Defense funds goes to the support of USA Military Rugby.

The Coaching and Support Staff are all volunteers who commit their time to support our Nations Veterans and Active-Duty Rugby Players. Our staff includes former National Team Coaches, Major League Rugby Coaches, and Senior Club Coaches from the United States, N. Ireland, Wales, England, and Zambia.

President

Saleem is an active duty JAG officer in the United States Air Force. He is a licensed Texas Attorney and has been advising commanders at the highest levels in the Air Force for 18 years. He received his Juris Doctorate from Texas A&M Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Texas Tech University. He has completed Air War College, Air Command and Staff College, and Squadron Officer School.

In the past 12 years, he has played, managed, and is now currently the head coach for the Department of the Air Force Men’s Rugby team. He spent years rebuilding the 7s system and culture to get the first ever top finish at pool play for Air Force Rugby. Saleem forged the way for international competition, leading to a recurring international service challenge accepted by the Secretary of the Air Force. Saleem planned and organized over 100 international service members gathering in the US and in New Zealand, to enhance foreign ties through rugby with the New Zealand and Australian Air Force.

He has coached at the youth level with youth programs in Anchorage Alaska, the Bobcats and Phoenix youth rugby teams, as well as Northern Force high school rugby where he specialized in defense and helped them win a state title. Saleem is able to adapt and collaborate with all leaders while creating a bridge for positive player feedback and mentorship.

“The will to compete never dies inside a rugger, but opportunities to play are fleeting. That is why USA Military Rugby was created, to give service members, active duty and veterans, greater opportunities to share this great game internationally and continue to represent this great nation.”
